The last Wednesday of August is circled in red on our calendar: it’s the day of the Tomatina.
This event is held every year in Buñol, a small village about 30 kilometres from Valencia. During a week of festivities, the 9,000 inhabitants are visited by around 50,000 people from all over the world. Between 11 a.m. and 12 noon on the Wednesday of the Tomatina, 17,000 of these visitors throw 120,000 kg of tomatoes at each other. The experience is worth having, but even if you don’t want to take part in the tomato fight, you can still come along just to check it out.
If you’d like to come with us, please let us know. A ticket, including return train travel, costs €22.50 for our students. Your friends are also welcome.
